LIVE: BJP's Gaurav Bhatia Targets Rahul Gandhi Over Foreign Links
NEW DELHI, October 22, 2026: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a press conference in New Delhi, alleging connections between the Congress leadership and foreign-based organisations involved in political protests.
Addressing the media at the BJP headquarters, Bhatia referred to an international media investigation that reportedly identified 101 organisations across multiple countries allegedly involved in coordinating or amplifying protests. He claimed that some of these groups were connected to demonstrations in India and other countries.
Bhatia specifically mentioned the France-based Indian Alliance Paris and Progressive International, alleging that these organisations had supported Rahul Gandhi during protests and attempted to influence India's internal political affairs. He also questioned the Congress leadership's interactions with representatives of international organisations.
The BJP spokesperson linked his allegations to protests over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and criticism directed at the Election Commission. He accused Rahul Gandhi of encouraging political unrest instead of addressing democratic and constitutional issues through established institutions.
Bhatia also criticised opposition leaders for their statements and social media activities concerning political developments in other countries. He maintained that the BJP would continue to defend India's democratic institutions and constitutional framework.
The Congress, meanwhile, has previously rejected similar political attacks and raised concerns over electoral transparency, voter rights and the functioning of constitutional institutions. The latest exchange adds another chapter to the ongoing confrontation between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress.
The allegations made during the press conference have not been independently established, highlighting the continuing political dispute over foreign influence, public protests and India's electoral processes.
